Second Mood Board and Sketches

Been looking at Gadu architecture for my alien houses/huts, still going down the line of Tatooine style buildings.

 Also some my sketches for the buildings and plants in myu scene/landscape.

Then my final skecthes of what I wan the scene to look like, I'm going for cliffs with floating broken off rocks. ALong with coastly sea line mixed in with jungle.

Heres the rough sketch going towards the final. Needs some major modifications especial the hand, also think the head is too small. Going be adding in texture for waist coat and maybe other bits.

Final Painting

Can't belive I managed to do paint this, un happy with parts of it. But really happy with the small details, since I suddenly picked up the painting style.

Edit: Now a quick colour version I knocked up.

Finally Finished Concept Sketch

Ok got the final sketch done and scan on my scanner, which doesn't bleach the f*** out of it. Don't if I'll get a chance to full paint it up so this maybe the final thing if I don't get it done.

Ok here the half finished sketch which will be painting up for my wrinkle brief. Dam JL11C scanner seems to use really bright bulb because the scan became nearly washed out, tried my best to make it visible but some detail is lost.

Going try scanning it in library or at home later.

Still need add some more wrinkles and correct so bits but this is along the lines of what I'm doing.

Second Mood Board

I want to concentrate more on a African style tribesmen, but not as dark skins. So more of a fantasy island tribesmen in style, similar to the tribesmen in ‘From Dust’… but with a face.

Since I’m going concentrate on a head bust, I want to have a quiet warped style head, elongated at the back of the cranium. Also I want to make features over exaggerate, large nose, droopy lobs and hanging jowls/cheeks.  

So here is a more focused mood board:

Wrinkle Mood Board

So my idea I want go with is a sort of Vodoo/Shaman or Eldar of a African tribe or Apache tribe.

This the mood board I have come up with.

Some reason my mac keeps freezing every time i upload stuff even if I make it like below 600 pixels big, so sorry for the sizes for the uploads. Also my scanner was playing up so these we're the only studies I managed to scan.

Reference Mood Board

So decided to go with my Medusa idea, and here is the Mood Board:

So are current brief we've been set is 'Tentacle' to create a concept that includes at least four tentacles, and is general tentacle themed. So I've come up with three rough general ideas today and they are:

My first idea is to have a large Robotic suit which has a fish tank/bowl for a head containing a squid, octopus or something general tentacled (Cthulhu head?). But I highly doubt that my tutor would let me get away with this, would see it as 'half assed attempt'. So this is lower down on my list.

Second idea was create a general daemonic zombe-ish creature  like the flood from halo or the horrid beasties from dead space, combined with the fishmen of Dave Jones crew from 'Pirate of the Caribbean'.

Lastly my third idea was to create a Medusa esque lady character , I quiet like to do this one because I'am yet to do a female figure. Wanted to do scarlet with for my super hero design and a witch for the halloween brief but decided against them.

Going need pick one then look up so decent reference for them tomorrow.
